Three-quarter length seated by a table with books, bearded, his hands resting on the arms of the chair and with jacket open to reveal well-buttoned waistcoat. Signed lower right.
Present Whereabouts Unknown.
Painted in the 1890s. From the age of the sitter the must be in his late 40s of even in his late 50s.
The sitter is possibly Benjamin Norton, the President of the Atlantic Avenue Railroad Company in 1895. The principal investor in the company had apparently been Isaac Newton Seligman.
